THE BABY BUMP PROJECT

ONE MUM’S PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY THROUGH HER FIRST PREGNANCY

It was during Emi and Adrian’s engagement shoot that they first confided in me that they were expecting. At only 12 weeks Emi was clearly not showing. However, Emi did have concerns that she may be showing by the wedding. The idea of the baby bump project had not yet been conceived , but all stories must start somewhere.

It was in-between Emi having her hair and make up done and getting into her wedding dress that Emi first told me of her desire to have a baby bump photo. Weddings can be crazy affairs and wedding photographers often have to think quickly on their feet, and with only 30 minutes before we needed to be at the church this was one of those occasions. Luckily for me the hotel room had a lovely double bay window and the sun was in the perfect position, it lit up the curtained window like a massive soft box – I could not be happier. And more importantly neither could Emi!

I initially shared this image privately with Emi and her reaction was priceless. “That is speechless!! We love it! That is so much more than I was expecting… amazing. Can I say that looks beautiful? I would love to have more photos of my baby bump as my body changes “mysteriously”… Oh and we don’t mind sharing that photo at all! I’m sure many mums and pregnant women will be jealous about having those kind of memories.”

So with that the baby bump project was born…
